grades, boredom, and afghan disasters

I haven't blogged in awhile, so I thought I would update you all on what's going on. I got done with my 7th semester of school on Thursday. My presentation and finals all went pretty well. I just go my grades today, and I'm happy to say that this has probably been my best semester grade wise. I always seem to get a C in at least one class. To be completely honest I have no idea how I did this well. I got an A in my insurance, human resources, and small business/entrepreneurship class, a B+ in my marketing class and a B in my organizational structure class which is where I had to do the business plan. It ended up that all of my last minute, hard work got me an A on the plan. I couldn't believe it actually. I was so ashamed of it when I turned it in, but it must have been alright. Anyway, enough about school, except for the fact that I only have ONE semester of college left. I'm scared but excited at the same time!

Enough about school, it's winter break! and so far it hasn't been too exciting. I got home last Thursday afternoon. My sister and I helped dad feed the animals and apparently we cut his feeding time from 35-40 minutes down to 15! Feeding is an every night thing, so it's good that we don't have to stay out in the cold forever. He's been feeding 13 buckets of corn a day. We have three different lots of cattle and they all need different amounts, so that's fun.

I can't even remember what we did over the weekend, nothing really. I guess Friday we loaded the semi (400 squares) It really wasn't that bad. I was freezing throughout the whole thing which is a huge difference from wanting to die from heat exhaustion.. anyway.. we haven't done much this week so far because its been so cold, which I like, but it gets boring sitting around the house all day. I really don't feel like cleaning my room either. I might after I get done with this..

I also made a pie today, for no reason. Not like we need a pie, I was in a bad mood and my sister and I got into a fight and after I cooled off from that I just started making a pie, it must be a stress reliever for me or something. Now I'm making some coffee and getting ready to watch Maury and work on my afghan (maybe I'll clean my room later ha)

Oh! About my afghan. I was trying to crochet, and I'm not very good at it anyway, but I thought it was looking really good. I had been working on it for a month or so. It wasn't even 1/4 of the way done, but it took me a really long time to get what I had done. Then I noticed that I had been adding a stich after every row, creating a huge triangle on each side. It looked so ugly and when I noticed it, it almost made me physically sick .. lol.. so I took it all out and started over, and now I'm doing a very simple one.. oh well.. Mom helped me take it out and wrap the yarn back up and the ball of yarn is the size of a basketball. I kid you not..

roomies

We (meaning my roomies, my sister and 7 other girls) went to Olive Garden last night. It was really fun. I thought I would post a pic of me and my lovely, awesome roomies! They are so much fun!

From left to right: Tonchka (Toni) , Chelsie, Me, Sarah

I also didn't know if I mentioned that one of my roomies is my (2nd?) cousin. On my mom's side. Her grandpa is my grandma's brother. So here is a pic of the cousins. I'm so glad I got to meet and spend time with her this year!

my roomies love me so much that they wanted me to stay in my room forever! ;) Don't worry I will get them back!

the bookstore, why I hate it, and other random facts

Let's start off on a good note. I went to my final at 10am which I was dreading because I hadn't studied very much only to find out that I had an A in the class and didn't have to take the final! SUPER excited!

And then I went to turn in my books, and that's where my day got a little worse.

I paid $80 for my insurance book they were going to give me $25. Nope, sorry. I'm selling it on Amazon.

I paid $130 for my marketing book, they were going to give me $5!!!, Amazon.

I paid $100 for my human resource book and got $83 back in cash because I'm smart and learned something about taking books back. Always, always, always take the used sticker off, that way they will think you bought it new and give you half back for the cost of the new book instead of half back for a used book. Score on that one!

Then I paid $30 for my small business book and they wanted to give me $3. No, amazon.

One of my other books was customized for my class, and they aren't even taking it back. I'm sure he will use the same one next semester. Oh well, I don't even remember what I paid for that one, I think it was around $70.

So I just put three books on amazon and hope that I can get a little more out of them that way. Another trick on that (since I know everyone who is reading this really cares ;) ) is to go a few dollars lower than other books in the same condition as yours because people will pick them everytime because they are a few dollars cheaper. Worked for me last semester, hopefully it does for this one.

Anyway, I'm still really excited about not having my final. My roommates, and my sister and I are all going to Olive Garden tonight, so that should be fun. Then I have to work from 10pm-2am, then tomorrow is my LAST day of work :( Kind of sad, but super excited.

Then I only have my presentation on Thursday and then I am going HOME for Christmas Break! I have never been more ready. I can't believe I've almost made it through 7 semesters, and I only have one more week of finals, ever! Yay!

I hope everyone has a fantastic day! I'm going to relax until lunch then probably take a nap before girls night! :D

jeopardy

I can hear Jeopardy through the wall.. and it made me think about someone who loved (loves) it and that is grandpa. It was like the biggest thing to happen, if we were watching Shirley Temple or something, we had to turn it off because he had to watch it.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about grandpa, and since it's been almost 2 years since he passed away, I thought I would feel differently, but I still really miss him. I keep seeing or hearing about things that would interest him and still think that when I go over there he will be there sitting in the chair complaining about being cold, wearing his little mocassins.

It's funny how many things remind you of someone who is gone. Everytime I look at the stars I think of him, and it also reminds me of the time he called me and told me to come over and look at the bats that lived in the roof, lol. There are so many little things that just make me smile.

But.. I think what is really getting to me is that he won't be there when I graduate, but in a way I'm sure he will be there. There are so many things that I wish he could be here for, and he was there for so much for me. He always came to my Christmas band concerts, even when I was in 6th grade and he had to listen to a horrible rendition of Jingle Bells.. lol..

I just feel like he shouldn't be forgotten, and I want to keep the memories of him in my mind so I don't forget them, although I never will. This is my favorite picture of him, from the Childrens Museum. Feel free to add your memories if you would like.

the end.

Well... I can't believe the end of the semester is finally here. I have one class tomorrow (a presentation), and a group meeting on Thursday in place of class. My other two were cancelled. After that, it's the weekend and I'm going Christmas shopping! :)

THEN! Wonderful finals begin. Monday I have two, one in the morning in Human Resource Management, but it will be a piece of cake (upside down) then one for my night class. This one might be a little more difficult 50 multiple choice. I am HORRIBLE at multiple choice. Tuesday I have one in Insurance, which is cumulative, but I've done well on past exams so I should be okay.. besides he's probably just going to take questions from the other three exams. No finals Wednesday, then a presentation Thursday morning. This will be one of the easier finals weeks that I've had since I've been here.

I don't know if I'm more sad, scared, or excited about only having one semester left. I think I will just combine those emotions.

Next week will also be my last week of work. I am actually kind of sad about leaving. I like the people there, but I know that I will be less stressed and I want to have fun during my last semester. I've also decided that I'm going to use my "free" time to work out and better myself. I think I just need to use the time to reflect on everything and make sure I am making the right decisions. After all, I have the rest of my life to work, I might as well have a little fun my last semester of college right?

I feel like I have learned so much over the past three (and almost a half) years. It's crazy. I have learned some through my classes, but most of all, I've learned how to be more independent and realize what I need to do with my life. If I just went out on my own right after high school, I don't think I would have been as "prepared". I am glad that I've had the experience and the chance to go to college, because I know a lot of people aren't able to. I'm also VERY thankful that I will make it out of here without student loans. It's unbelievable really, I don't know how we did it, but we did, and it's a great feeling. I have so much to be thankful for. I'm sorry I complain about my life because really, I am a lucky girl.

seriously?

I know I have better things to do than blog but I couldn't help myself on this one. I was at work last night, surfing the web as usual, when I ran across this headline: Sought: Wal-Mart shoppers who trampled NY worker

Is it really worth someone dying to get a good deal on Black Friday? I do NOT think so. It even says in the article that people were very upset that they had to leave because someone died. SERIOUSLY people, you are forgetting the true meaning of Christmas! I was so shocked by this and upset. I just don't know why people are the way they are anymore..

Anyway.. check out the article if you want.

I also wanted to share at least one of the pictures from Thanksgiving at my grandmas, we took many and some of them were way too embarassing, but here is one of the good ones :) It's good of me anyway lol.. not sure what my cousin is doing but.. yeah.

souveniers

This is probably my last blog until after Thanksgiving, because I have 3 projects to work on this weekend. Two that are due on Monday and Tuesday, and one that is due as soon as I get back from break.

So you are thinking, why am I writing a blog if I have so much to do? Well I think I had something interesting to say for once, and I didn't want to forget it.

Last night was the library holiday party. It was ok, not really exciting, and actually kind of boring, but it was nice to visit with everyone. It was also sad because I can tell how much the people there actually like me and I am feeling kind of guilty about not working next semester, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Anyway, there is a girl from Korea that works there, she is a grad student, and I believe that this is the first time she's ever been here. She brought a friend with her to the party that she met her (I'm assuming anyway) because I think she was from Taiwan. Anyway.. we had sloppy joes, and they asked me if it was beef, so I am pretty sure that they had never had them before. Wouldn't that be wierd? Sloppy joes seem so normal to me, but if you didn't know what they were they might not look very good, but they seemed to really like them. They kept going on about how good they were, lol..

Then they were asking me about Black Friday, what it was and why it was called Black Friday. Then she asked me a really hard question: "If you were going to get a souvenier from here what would you get?" They wanted to bring something home with them from here that showed what America is all about.

That really stumped me. I didn't know. So my question to you is... What would you tell her to buy? I just think it's wierd because how would I know what is cool and what isn't. I assume that if I went to a foreign country I would just get something that seems different or unique, but I just couldn't think of something..

Anyway.. I have to get to work on all of this. I'm really excited about being almost done with my SEVENTH! semester of college. Whew! Graduation is going to be the best day of my life.

things that annoy me

Speaking of things that annoy me, after I wrote this blog the MSN Article 12 Nuisance neighbors popped up, and then it talked about this guy who had a neighbor who mowed his grass all day, drunk, and then it showed a video on YouTube on this website called rottenneighbor.com.

Here's the video, and I'm going to check out this Rotten Neighbor site right now lol.. Doesn't the guy taping it have the same laugh as the curly haired guy on Knocked Up, I love him btw lol...

AND.. my sister found this video and it's pretty funny if you have nothing better to do!

Here's what I wrote earlier:

I guess I am just in one of those moods where everything annoys me today.. and everything that I'm annoyed about seems to be college related, hmm.. maybe I'm just over it..

1. people who will not shut up during class. I was in Insurance this morning and they talked non stop for half the class, whispering. This really gets to me, because even though I can't hear what they're saying, I can hear the whispering sound and it just irritates me. Seriously, it is so rude to sit there and talk throughout the whole class. The professor had to be able to hear it but he didn't say anything.

2. my management professor who thinks he knows everything and likes to talk about random stuff while we are taking an impossible exam. There are many things about this professor that I don't like, but when your students are taking an exam (especially one that has "none of the above" for almost every question) you should be a little more respectful and let them think. But oh, he can't do that because he's SO much better than all of us. Ugh. This guy is really getting on my nerves lately.

3. people who expect you to tell them what happened for the last three classes that they have missed. HELLO! just go to class. I'm not helping you, sorry.

4. group projects. period. I know this is a part of life, but I hate being in charge of everyone because no one else will do anything. This also usually means that I am stuck having to complete everything.... ugh.

EDIT:

5. I forgot to mention the one that annoys me most. My roommate playing extremely loud irritating music over and over and over. She listens to the same songs on repeat everyday! Usually she turns it off at a decent hour, but she didn't last night. Maybe that's why I'm so grumpy and annoyed by everything else. SERIOUSLY I am so sick of hearing wierd techno, oldschool songs. It's officially time for me to listen to some Taylor Swift. Too bad I don't have good speakers...

Oh my, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go on such a rant here.. anyway.. these are things that annoy me. Feel free to leave things that annoy you, unless of course reading my blog about things that annoy me, annoys you ;)

Also, don't forget to check out my last two posts, since I've posted a few things in the last few days you might have missed them.

Guess the Artist Answers
A Real Woman

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

a real woman

A real woman has shit on her boots, worn spots on her jeans, passion in her heart, and a brain in her head. We don't have to be pretty all the time, because real men know better than to think that the amount of makeup we have on is an indication of whether or not we are worth speaking to. A real woman doesn't need a man to justify who she is, or go to church on Sunday just to talk with God. A real woman knows that actions speak louder than words, and that no amount of frills and glitter can replace talent when it comes down to the ride. A real woman knows that a good heart is more important in a man than a full bank account, and that being honest is more important than always being right.

Note: I did not write this, I just thought it was good :)

answers to "guess the artist"

I know I said I wasn't going to post this until Sunday, but no one really did it so... I'm going to go ahead and post it anyway :) This might be a little more interesting.. maybe.. Anyway.. here are the answers... and pictures to make it more interesting!

1. Dolly Parton-Here You Come Again (Dolly has had some great hairstyles.. that may be another post in itself!)

2. Taylor Swift- Tim McGraw (I love all of her songs, but if you don't have the CD you might not know the lyrics to my favs so I picked a well known one!)

3. Luke Bryan- Country Man (if you haven't seen the music video for this song, watch it!

4. Kenny Chesney- She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy

5. Johnny Lee- Lookin' For Love (from my fav movie Urban Cowboy!)

6. Heidi Newfield- Johnny & June (I wrote a post about this song so you better get it right (; )

7. Ashton Shepherd- Sounds So Good

8. Brad Paisley- Little Moments (that's so going to be me someday.. burning the cake and almost crying about it.. if only you knew my kitchen disasters.. like.. cumin in the eggnog instead of nutmeg. (Seriously, they look VERY similar ;) ) I really did cry after that because I stirred that stuff forever and then I RUINED it!)

9. Shania Twain- Any Man of Mine (there were SO many good pictures of her!)

10. Jessica Simpson- With You (I tried to stump you with this one because it's not country..
and it looked like it worked ;)
11. Jessica Simpson- Come on Over

Now I get to study for an exam and write a research paper, SO much fun, let me tell you.

guess the artist!

I saw this on someone's facebook, and I thought it might be fun. I'm going to post a few lyrics from songs. See how many you can guess without looking them up! They will probably be too easy, but we'll see..

1. all you gotta do, is smile that smile, and there go all my defenses, just leave it up to you, and in a little while, you're messin up my mind, and fillin' up my senses.

2. when you think happiness, i hope you think that little black dress

3. i've got a jeep, with camouflage seats, that way nobody see's us parked back up in these trees, you're little ipod's loaded down with Hoobastank, Don't be a tape player hater girl, we're groovin to hank.

4. I make a little room, and she climbs on up, open up the throttle and stir a little dust...

5. you came knockin' at my heart's door, you're everything i've been lookin' for...

6. I wanna be there on the stage with you, you and I could be the next rage too..

7. hey baby, let's jump in your truck, we'll ride and watch for lightnin' bugs...

8. well that's like just last year on my birthday, she lost all track of time and burnt the cake, every smoke detector in the house was goin' off, she was just about to cry until i took her in my arms, and i couldn't let her see, me laugh.

9. you gotta shimmy, shake, make the earth quake, kick, turn, stomp stomp, then you jump, heel to toe, do si do, 'til you boots wanna break 'til you feet and your back ache, keep it movin 'til you just can't take anymore, come on everybody on the floor, one, two, three four.

10. the real me, used to laugh all night, layin the grass just talkin' bout love, but lately i've been jaded, life's got so complicated.

11.don't pack your bag, don't make me wait, i wanna kiss that smile that's on your face.

Good Luck! These seem easy to me since I know what I wrote but I think it's hard to read lyrics and not hear them so hopefully it's not too easy for you all!

If you get them all, you'll know my favorite songs and artists :) I'll post the answers next Sunday, or you can just look them up if you're curious before then.

help!

I can't seem to quit my job. It's not like I'm quitting right now, just next semester. I am having a hard time with this. Everytime I try to tell my supervisor after work there are people around and or she is busy. I guess my question to you is... would it be horrible etiquette to send her an e-mail telling her I need to talk to her about next semester and that I won't be able to work and that I just need to meet with her sometime, or should I just tell her after work. What do you think?

Another reason that it is so hard is that I just plain feel bad, and I shouldn't, at all! It's not like it's my career or anything, it's just hard because as I've said I have NEVER quit anything before, ever. It's a scary thing for no reason. I just don't get it. I need to do it as soon as possible because it will make me feel better and give her plenty of notice. ... ugh.

Sorry my blogs have been so uninteresting lately. I apologize. I've had a lot on my mind and a lot to do!

Monday, November 10, 2008

just my luck.

It never fails, I try to stay clean while I'm working outside, but it never happens.

I got home Friday afternoon and went to change my clothes so I could go outside and help split wood with Dad and my sister. I ran into my room to grab some old jeans, only to find that that I had one pair, the most comfy pair in the world with pretty big holes in them, but I wasn't going to wear them because it was freezing out! So I went to the laundry room only to find my "working jeans" in the washer. Of course, there was no time for drying them because Dad was in a hurry.

So we went outside and I said, "These are my good jeans, I need to be extra careful" (Never say that.) So Dad says, ok.. you can run the tractor, so I spent the whole time running the lever, an easy, but cold job. Anyway.. when we were almost done, hydraulic oil started spraying all over the place, all over my jeans and nowhere else. It couldn't have gotten all over my old sweatshirt, no.. It had to get ALL OVER my favorite jeans :(. So I freaked out and dad's like. Way to worry about jeans when I just spilled $50 worth of hydraulic oil, then I said, well my jeans were $30 or $40. That made him think differently about that statement.

Anywho. I was like how do I get this out??! So dad said go scrub dishwashing soap on them, so I did that and let them sit in soap and water for a few hours, then I washed them in hot water in the washer twice. Most of the oil came out, and I think they are wearable, but they still smell like oil :(

On another note, since that wasn't exciting and neither is this, I have decided to quit my job and not work next semester. I am going to work the rest of the semester, but I feel like I am making the right decision. I was going to tell my supervisor after work today, I can't seem to decide if it would be better to tell her when I get there or when I leave, but she wasn't at her desk when I left.. and all of the supervisors seemed to be talking about how "good" I was today.. at my job and it makes me feel guilty, but I still think I'm making the right decision. Am I? LOL

Monday, November 3, 2008

to work, or not to work, that is the question

oh and who am I going to vote for? but that's a different story.

I have a small dilemma. I can't decide if I want to work next semester or not. I've been thinking about it alot and I just can't seem to make a decision, this is where you come in. I need some feedback. I thought I knew what I wanted to do, but now I don't.

If I work:

1. I will have money
2. I will have less time for school/friends, and fun..
3. I HAVE to work a 2am shift once a week
4. I will be running around like a chicken with its head cut off..

If I don't work:

1. No money.
2. I'll have more time for school, friends, and fun
3. I will be less stressed

Yeah so I thought there were more reasons, but I really can't decide. I would really like to have spending money but I know next semester is going to be tough. It's also my last semester and I don't want to be stressed. I want to have time to spend with my friends and have fun, but if I don't work I won't have any money to hang out with friends. I mean I will have some money if I go home and work with my dad, but I just feel bad asking my parents for spending money. It's nice having money to spend every week.. I know it's my decision in the end, but I really don't know..

So.. what do you think? let me know. I value your opinion! :)

punkins and the worst hours of my college career

Well, how do I start this? punkins or worst day? We'll go with the bad news first? I guess, so the good news can make you happy at the end :)

Well you see, I had a business plan assignment, that I have written about and I thought it would be easy and it turns out that it wasn't, not at all.

It was due today, so of course I worked on it here and there thinking oh, it won't be a big deal. I came back Sunday evening around 4:00 and started working on it then I took a little nappy poo then went to work at 11p-2:15a. Then I went to bed about 2:45 and got up around 8 to see if someone ever wrote me back because I wanted to see if I could get someone to switch me shifts so that I could work on my project from 10-1 instead of all night.. well.. that didn't happen so I went to work from 10-1, and I was going to skip my 2:00 class (mind you I have only ever purposefully skipped class twice in my entire college career! Once was PE where we were going to have to go up 12 flights of stairs, not happening!, and the second time was my night class because it was my friends 21st birthday and I wanted to go!) Well anyway.. I WAS going to skip my class.. but I looked at the slides and we had something due during class, for points, which we NEVER have.. so I went to class... I got back around 3:30 and started working on my project again at 4.

Then I had dinner from 5-6 with my friend Lacy, then worked on it pretty steady until 11:30p. when I decided that I was entirely too stressed and sleepy from working the night before. So I went to bed, and told myself that I was going to get up at 5am, well for some reason I woke up at exactly 4am with no alarm going off, nothing, so I got up and started working on my project. It's a pretty good thing I did because I worked from 4am until 7, took a shower, started back up at 7:30 and worked nonstop until 10:45.

I got to the computer lab at 10:50, printed it out and realized that it was landscape instead of portrait. great. (which meant I also submitted it to my teacher in landscape.. hmm hope I dont' get counted off for that) So I put it to portrait really quick and hit print at 10:57am, and of course my table of contents was completely off, but I didn't have time to fix it so I just left it (Is he seriously going to check to see if they are right?) anywho.. I ran to class and was probably like a minute late.. but it was all good.. I got it done. I have NEVER in my life been rushing like that on an assignment. It was so difficult and I really underestimated the time that it would take to do it all. I'm sure I didn't even do it right at all and I know I spent 12+ hours on it. I'm pretty sure it's more than that.. but that was just over the past few days.. anyway.. then I had class from 11-12:15, and a test at 2:00.. yeah it was a pretty horrible day and now I'm super sleepy but still need to work on homework so I can catch up and never feel rushed ever again. It was a lesson that is for sure. Never ever wait to do something, I'm telling you take it from me. Just do it a little at a time.. it's so much easier.. I hope I remember this when I'm workinng on 900 other projects this semester.. and next :( I am SO sorry about all of the run-on sentences.. I have a major problem with that. I don't understand how I get A's on papers.. bleh..

Anyway.. I told you it was kind of depressing and I'm sure you all don't really care, but anyway now onto the Punkins!

I was determined to carve a pumpkin this weekend. I even printed out some awesome templates from here. And here are instructions on How to Carve a Fancy Pumpkin!

So here they are. Liz's is on the left (Cat in the Moon) and mine is on the right (Frankenstein) They are pretty cool looking if you ask me :) I think it would have been cooler if Liz would have shaved the moon a little deeper but it's still pretty awesome! You should try it!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

college weekend

I stayed at college this weekend. It was pretty fun, except for Friday night when my emotions got the best of me, but that's ok right? Everyone needs a good cry.. haha.. Anyway.. before my little cry I went to Cheeseburger in Paradise with my friend Kelly and my sister, and had a Lady of the Sea.. mmm.. you have to try it I'm telling you. It's a pina colada and strawberry daquiri layered. It's expensive, like $6.50, but it's so worth it. I wish I could find a picture but they don't have one..

Saturday I woke up at umm.. 10:30.. oops.. I totally wasn't planning on sleeping that late, it just kind of happened. The funny thing is, I actually went to bed semi early.. Anyway.. I was very well rested and it was nice. I got up, took a shower, and went to lunch with Kelly, then I came back to my room and started on some homework, then left for my friend Lacy's party about 4:00. I had a lot of fun, she had a hayride and a nice fire, which I have pictures of below, oh and this is my friend Lacy.. I had to crop out our sweatshirts (and when I took the picture.. i accidently cut off part of our head..oops..) to protect our identity ha.. then I went to bed at approximately 1:30am.. and woke up at 8:30, then I cam back here and did laundry, becuase I had NO clean clothes anywhere, went to lunch with my sister and her boyfriend, and then came back and worked on homework. I got so much done in an hour. I still have a lot to go, but I feel better knowing that I at least got some of it done!

I know it doesn't sound like a fun weekend, but it was, just the right amount of fun and I had the opportunity to get caught up on sleep and homework.

And this is totally random, but I want to have a party, and I want to try these recipes because I'm in a fall kind of mood.

Luscious Four-Layer Pumpkin Cake

Cheesy Spinach and Bacon Dip

Mallow-Topped Sweet Potato Bake

it all looks yummy to me.. if you want to see the recipes just type in those titles on http://www.kraftfoods.com/, it's my favorite website and I get LOTS of recipes from it.

capture award

My wonderful cousin Marchelle gave me this award for my fall photography. Thanks! I'm going to pass it on to my wonderful Aunt who also has some awesome photography skills (she took my senior pics and actually got some good ones of me lol.. I now know why I am not a model.. I was just too awkward lol). Anyway, Check out both of their pages... Hopefully I will get a chance to take some more pictures this weekend. We'll see what happens.... it's going to be a busy weekend! ;)

i ♥ fall

it's just... amazing.

NOTE: I did some photoshopping.. (obviously) so don't think that the leaves are this vibrant, although some of the pictures i just "auto-fixed" on picnik (it's a free Facebook thing) Enjoy!

P.S. I so NEED a new camera. Mine is... well.. OLD. I was thinking about getting/asking for one for Christmas, preferrably under $150. I know that doesn't leave me many options but if you have any suggestions let me know!

please tell me...

why I filled up my gas tank when it was $3.35 and now it's $3.13 or less? Yeah.. but really I shouldn't be too mad because what is that? like $2.00 in savings. Oh well..

I did do it for a good reason though, I just thought that it would go up and then I would be mad that I didn't get it when it was cheaper.. I guess I would be mad either way.. what to do..

I'm hoping to get a bunch of cool fall pictures from home this weekend so check back after the weekend to see if I actually did ;)

I am a farm girl, do you believe me?

I know my blog is titled, "Life of a Farm Girl" but I hardly ever write about farming. You probably don't want me to because I tend to go on and on. I have been trying to think of something to blog about, and I couldn't think of anything, and as I was looking through pictures I found some of me that I scanned onto my computer that show that I really am a farm girl, I mean.. I have grown up living on a farm and for that I am thankful. I couldn't tell you how old I was when I first rode in a tractor.. I mean I don't fully remember the first time. I do remember liking to ride in the tractor with dad though :)

And this is one of my all time favorit things... It is the most rewarding thing ever. I've never had anything love me as much as a bottle calf.. yeah yeah.. they just loves the milk, but it's so cool how they follow you around and wait for you to come feed them.

I know for a fact that I wouldn't be the person that I am today. But I really couldn't tell you exactly why I love being a farm girl. I guess it's just because I had no other choice and I had to learn to love it? lol.. just kidding. I mean I really do love it. It's hard to explain, and probably the biggest reason that I.. "want to marry a farmer" ok. I said it. Why would I ever want to do that? I don't know.. I guess it's just that to be a farmer you really have to love what you do, you don't make tons of money, you don't have a constant paycheck, I guess it's just the fact that farmers work so hard for what they want and I just find that so admirable. Is that wierd? Oh well.. if it is I don't really care.

I was thinking about making a list of the reasons I love being a farm girl but I think it would be too hard, mostly because I can't even explain why I love it I just do.. Well.. this picture can kind of explain it. I love taking pictures of cattle, even though they scare me to death when they get bigger, but that's another story. These are some calves that we had last year and I just love this pic because I caught one licking itself lol.. it's just.. idk I like it :)

The picture below could be another reason.. I wouldn't get to see stuff like this everyday (That's why I hate being at college in the city :( ) The picture would be a lot better if I would cut the truck and date out of it, but I don't feel like it lol.. oh and I LOVE FALL!

Well.. this blog didn't turn out like I would have hoped, but I blogged, so I'm ok now :)

on another note, I miss my little brother :( At least I get to see him tomorrow!! Wouldn't you miss this?

wow!

I just got off of the phone with an amazing person! I sent the owner of a local restaurant "Almost Home" an e-mail to see if I could ask her a few questions, she wrote me back and gave me her cell phone number. I just called her and she is one of the coolest people I have every talked to, I think we could be BFFs! Not even kidding. She is so much like me and I'm so excited that I had a chance to talk with her. She gave me some really good information to use for my business plan and she also said that she would be willing to show me around her restaurant and even let me "get my hands dirty" if I wanted. She seems so helpful and willing to talk. Even though I am wanting to create a catering business myself (for a school project and potentially in real life a LONG time from now) she thought my idea for a reception hall was good and also said that putting it in an old barn or something (Marchelle :D ) would be a good idea. She said that something like that, out in the country would be very successful and thinks that it is a good idea and something that people will use. That really just got my hopes up and really excites me!

It was just really nice finding someone who would share their information with me and who I had a lot in common with, I only talked to her for half and hour so and I think that we could have talked for a long time, but I'm sure she is a busy lady. I'm just so excited that someone thinks my idea is good and that someone would take the time to help me out. Yay :) Exactly why you should go to http://www.almosthomerestaurant.com/ and check out her restaurant. It is really amazing, I've been there a few times

ummm

I should be doing homework but this is what I found to do instead... thanks to my sister. I don't recommend ever starting this, ha :) but I'll give you the website just in case. http://www.faceinhole.com/

These are my friends.. yeah that's Tyra sitting next to me ;)

And.. Zac Efron is my boyfriend, duh!

"Is that the Posh one driving?"

"We're not in Kansas anymore"

Y'all already knew I was a beauty queen ;)

how embarrassing....

Have you ever walked out of Burger King with toilet paper stuck to the bottom of BOTH feet? I have...

You know when people ask in survey's what the most embarrassing thing is that has happened to you, well I could never think of anything, but now I have an answer...

Yeah.. It was horrible.. horribly funny... but still horrible. I was going out to the truck (dad was already out there) and he started laughing and then he pointed down, and I was like, what? And that's when I saw IT. I ripped it off of there and ran to the truck.. then busted up laughing.. yeah at least I had a good sense of humor about it..

What embarrassing things have happened to you? Let me know so I don't feel like such a loser.. thanks :)

* Oh and on a completely different subject, Marchelle. Sweet Italian Cream coffee creamer is AMAZING. I bought some because you said it was good and OMG is all I have to say... ;)

why are all the good ones taken?

I edited this: Check out the new pictures :)

Apparently I am drawn to guys who are taken.. I just can't seem to get away from it. Every guy I like I end up finding out that they are dating someone.. I guess it's a good thing that someone is dating them- maybe I'm making good choices? haha.. However, since they are taken, that means there is no chance for me to take them lol..

The most recent case being this guy I call him "crop dusting guy" I really do. It's like a code name and if he ever read this he would know it was about him, but whatever.. I highly doubt that he would EVER read this and if he did I really wouldn't care.

Anyway.. I'm in a group with him in my class for the business plan and he is kind of like an "advisor". Since the moment he started talking about farming and stuff, I knew I like him, wierd huh.. anyway.. I was actually able to talk to this guy, normally I am too shy, but it was FUN talking to him, wondering if he was single, etc.

But.. today when we were in our group, he said this: "My finace and I...." and from then on I didn't remember what else he said.. I was like.. "DANG IT" It happened again...

Why can't I find someone who is single that I like? Why? Life would be so much easier.

Why can't I have him (it has to be this character, not John Travolta in person, but the character he plays in this move ;) ) (My FAVORITE movie mind you)

or Hud would do.. (another good movie- watch it if you haven't seen it!)

And this would be the reason I don't just want John Travolta.. Paul Newman even looks good when he's old.

help!

First off, I was wrong about the number of people who read my blog.. apparently only one person wanted to vote on my poll.. :( Oh well! Anyway.. I hope more than one person reads this because I really do need your help and your opinion! Whoever did select something from my pole wanted to hear about school, and my problem just happens to be with school!

I already said something about this particular assignment, creating my own business plan. I have my business but I need a good name for it (that's where you come in!)

This is my business description (it needs A LOT of work) but you'll get what the business is about by reading it.

My business idea is a catering business that would provide country style food. The company would also provide a reception hall where weddings and other parties can be held. It would also offer in-home catering as well as the ability to cater to businesses in the area. A kitchen would also be included in the reception hall and would enable the company to have a place to store and prepare everything. This would be useful for the in-home and on location catering services. The reception hall will be fairly large with an outside area for outdoor parties when the weather is nice. This could also be a place to hold weddings if the couple wants to have an outdoor wedding.

Another aspect of the company is that they will allow smaller events such as birthday parties and other events. Most companies have a limit to the amount of people that need to attend. This would be another unique aspect of the business. Customers would be able to enjoy very good service and quality comfort food at a lower price than some gourmet catering services.

I know this doesn't sound very exciting, but to me, it is extremely exciting because I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time! The only way you can fully understand what this would look like is to crawl inside my brain, because it's flooded with ideas and exactly how everything would look. I wish I could explain every detail, but it's hard.. Anyway.. I need a catchy name, and Rachel's Country Catering and Reception Hall isn't going to cut it!

Also, would any of you use anything like this if it was available? I guess I am thinking of this being in a really pretty country setting where people can enjoy the scenery and just have a good time! Right now, I am trying to estimate the demand for my service, and it is not easy. It is hard to find out how many people you THINK will want to use your business. Right now I guess I'm just going to see how many people have gotten married in my county and maybe close cities nearby and try to find something about how many people need catering services. The only thing that I don't think will be good about all of this is that people in my county don't make a lot of money and probably don't have a lot of extra money to be spending on catering services. I know the reception area would be good because there are only a few I can think of in my area. It would give people more options anyway.. So.. what do you think? PLEASE comment! :) :)

. do you know .

I just got Jessica Simpson's new cd today, I've been waiting for it to come out. I think everyone should check it out. It's good, but most of the songs are kind of sad. I think my favorites are: Still Beautiful, Come On Over, and Do You Know (with Dolly Parton, who I also love!)
Just thought I would share!
... I wish I had her hair.. it's so pretty!
UPDATE: Totally obsessed with the cd, I think i've listened to it at least 3 times all the way through..

ugh.

ugh #1...

This weekend I got my haircut, and for the FIRST time in my life, it wasn't with my regular hairdresser. Seriously, I have NEVER been anywhere else, and my experience is exactly why. I decided to have my eyebrows waxed like I always do at the other place, well.. it took her forever and I was kind of nervous anyway.. then she hands me the mirror and this is what I see..
<---------- (excpet of course I wasn't smiling.. I was rather shocked and then ticked off..)
I mean they don't look horrible, but one eyebrow is a lot thinner than the other and they are a lot thinner than I usually have them. This is also after I used an eyebrow pencil to fill in where it was way too high on one side.. I don't know.. maybe I'm just picky. I did love how she cut my hair, and of course when she was washing it she said.. you're hair is really dry you should try this olive oil mask (kind of like conditioner that you use once a week), it's only like $9.95.. then I go to check out and she's like did you want the olive mask, it's $11.50.. I was like.. sure.. so I get my bill and it's $47. No color, just a cut and wax, and the olive mask (because I figured it would help- and it did and it will last for a long time) Anywho.. like a nice girl I also left her a tip..resulting in $50 for a haircut. I think that's ridiculous.. maybe I'm wrong? I wasn't very satisfied and believe more than ever that I won't go anywhere else except my good old hairdresser, Deanna!!
Ugh #2..... I logged into facebook like normal today, and see a new picture of the guy with his girlfriend. I need to stop liking him, I just can't.. it seems like whenever I go home things remind me of him and I can't get away from it.. anyway.. I just need to get over it and concentrate on myself.

I did buy a 10 Minute Solutions Slim and Scult Pilates video with resitance band.. I did 3 segments today and they weren't too bad. My goal is to at least do the 10 minute Total Body Workout 3 times a week or more if I can.. I feel like that would be better than nothing since my schedule is pretty much insane and I feel like I don't have time to breathe.. but of course I have time to blog? How does that work? I have to get my frustration out somewhere..
Anyway.. I'm out of here so I can get some homework done and maybe a nap so I can stay awake while working until 2:15am... I guess that's ugh #3...

. it's starting .

I'm already starting to get stressed.

It's only the second week of classes, they aren't as easy as I thought they would be. I have a project in every one of my classes, difficult projects at that, as well as TONS of reading and weekly quizzes in a few of them. My dad was so wrong when he said Senior year was a breeze..

Only 248 days until graduation (Ha!)

Could it be.... duh duh duh.....Senioritis?

On Sunday I....

- got up and mowed the yard

- watched No Reservations

- mowed one of the cemeteries

- tried to mow the other one.. but they were having a campout (I know it sounds wierd, but its by someone's property so I didn't want to interrupt them)

Today I....

- delivered hay again (yes, on labor day)

this is where I want to go...

HOME!....

in case you were wondering, this is home. Of course it's a really old picture but that's basically it :)

Yes, I've only been at school for 10 days, but I'm such a homebody.. I love being home. Don't get me wrong, I like getting away and having time to do whatever I want and be on my own, but I'm just drawn to it.. it's in my blood. I think I'm going to be a farm girl forever.. sigh...

On the other hand, it would be nice to go back here!! I wouldn't mind that at all!

Anyway.. the main reason I wanted to write was because I put a counter on my blog, and it doesn't seem like very many visitors, 28, but seriously, I wonder who all reads this. Let your presence be known haha.. I guess I'm just curious. I know I'm not that interesting, and mostly I just blog because I like to write, and speak my mind since I rarely do it in person (unless of course you're family or really close friends, then I'm more than willing to talk your ear off ;) )

This is turning out to be a really random post. My tv sleep timer just went off, which means its time for me to think about going to sleep since I have to get up early in the a.m. but I want to finish this! I am doing a business plan in one of my classes this semester. If you know me, I have always dreamed of owning my own business, so I am really excited about this. We are supposed to come up with a business idea, it's even better if you're really interested in it. I have a few ideas. One is a bed and breakfast. I have always thought it would be a fun thing to do! So I was doing some research online seeing if I could actually find anything, and I couldn't really.. then I decided to look for an old house in the area, well I ended up finding a house in a nearby city that is already a bed and breakfast. They wanted to sell it because it had been their mother's dream to own a bed and breakfast and they didn't have time to run it the way that their mother would have wanted them to. Anyway, it was $500,000. Yeah, like I have that kind of money. It was beautiful though! I mean really really pretty. I just think it would be awesome to do.

My other idea is a catering business. I think this is what I'm going to go with for my project. I really want to do it with country style food, like what I make for parties and stuff. I think that would be really fun too. I don't know how this would work or where I would find people, but I was thinking about having ideas for themed parties like superbowl, birthdays, anniversaries, things like that, and have a book or something of ideas that customers could look through. I was also thinking it would be fun to decorate and stuff too.. anyway.. I guess I'm writing all of this to see what you (my many readers, ha!) think! What do you think would be the better idea?

For the sake of the project, I think it would be a lot easier to do catering because I am sure there is a lot of information on it and it may be less expensive to start than a bed and breakfast, but I doubt it. Our business plan has to be REALLY detailed and it will probably end up being 50 pages long, all of the financial, marketing, operating aspects of it have to be gone through and researched, so I am really excited about it, and more excited to see if my plan would actually have a chance of working :)

Anyway.. off to bed.. The sooner I go to bed, the sooner I'll be on my way home (after working from 8a-11:30a, of course :P)

aries

I'm not usually one to believe horoscopes, but the last day or two mine has been pretty relevant.. I added a horoscope application on facebook because I just like to read them to see if there is any way they could be true ;) Take yesterday for example, it said something like this: "It's hard to get back into the swing of things, you can't seem to shake that tired feeling."

That seemed completely true to me at the time because I hadn't got very much sleep and school just started and I'm having trouble getting used to the "college life" so that was kind of funny that it said that..

Then today, this is what it says: "Don't give up hope yet. Something you thought wasn't going to work out still has a chance. ."

Let me just say that I hope this is true.. I mean I'm not going to go into details, but if it's talking about what I think it's talking about.. it would be a good thing :)

So I guess my question to you is, what do you think about horoscopes?

I was also looking around on Facebook (because it so MUCH more fun than homework) and I saw the compare people thing. Here are my ratings. I think most of them describe me pretty well.

#7 most helpful

#16 best public speaker
(This one seriously makes me laugh.. I get SO nervous when I have to talk in front of people!)

#21 best listener

#22 kindest

#24 best mother (potential)

#25 most loyal

#25 best scientist
(as does this one.. I am HORRIBLE at science..)

#26 prettiest
(okay so i know that ;) )

#29 hardest worker

#38 most reliable

please pass the tweezers

I was just in class where all I saw was this:

Scary huh? Yeah.. my professor has one of these. I'm not kidding, it is seriously the worst unibrow I've ever seen. I've been fighting off a unibrow my entire life.. but I take care of it..

Someone please get me some tweezers, I can't concentrate!

NOTE: obviously this isn't my professor.. I googled unibrow and this is what I found.. the problem is, his eyebrows would look really nice if he would just tweeze in the middle..

hairstyles

I've been wanting to get my hair cut, so I was going through some of the pictures on my computer to see if I wanted to get it the same or go for something new, and thought I would let you see some of my past hairstyles. I have a ton more pictures at home that could make this post much better, but for now, these are a few of the ones I've had. I have always wanted cool hair. I did indeed have the Jennifer Anniston haircut, which I don't have a picture of. I was probably in elementary school then.. I was really into layers there for awhile.. I wish I had my other pictures!

Yeah I don't know what to say about this one. Whoever cut my bangs (probably grandma) needs some help.. but I could have been squirming.. lol

Again with the bangs.. hmm.. I'm sure the glasses help too haha..

Ok, I know I'm skipping a good 7 or 8 years and I'm sure all of the "good" pictures fit into this category. I swear I will look for them when I go home, they are too funny! But this is me at my junior prom.

Then of course, the college years (which I'm in now.. my hair stayed the same for a long time. I had the bangs and layers, but it varied in length depending on how often I got it cut. Most of the time it was about shoulder length, and I've been letting it grow out.. so.. anyway..

Here's a before and after for you :)

THEN

Here I am now.. I think I've made a few good changes :) Anyway.. I would like suggestions, do you think I should keep it the way it is, or should I look for something new and exciting! What do you think?

NOW
