punkins and the worst hours of my college career

Well, how do I start this? punkins or worst day? We'll go with the bad news first? I guess, so the good news can make you happy at the end :)

Well you see, I had a business plan assignment, that I have written about and I thought it would be easy and it turns out that it wasn't, not at all.

It was due today, so of course I worked on it here and there thinking oh, it won't be a big deal. I came back Sunday evening around 4:00 and started working on it then I took a little nappy poo then went to work at 11p-2:15a. Then I went to bed about 2:45 and got up around 8 to see if someone ever wrote me back because I wanted to see if I could get someone to switch me shifts so that I could work on my project from 10-1 instead of all night.. well.. that didn't happen so I went to work from 10-1, and I was going to skip my 2:00 class (mind you I have only ever purposefully skipped class twice in my entire college career! Once was PE where we were going to have to go up 12 flights of stairs, not happening!, and the second time was my night class because it was my friends 21st birthday and I wanted to go!) Well anyway.. I WAS going to skip my class.. but I looked at the slides and we had something due during class, for points, which we NEVER have.. so I went to class... I got back around 3:30 and started working on my project again at 4.

Then I had dinner from 5-6 with my friend Lacy, then worked on it pretty steady until 11:30p. when I decided that I was entirely too stressed and sleepy from working the night before. So I went to bed, and told myself that I was going to get up at 5am, well for some reason I woke up at exactly 4am with no alarm going off, nothing, so I got up and started working on my project. It's a pretty good thing I did because I worked from 4am until 7, took a shower, started back up at 7:30 and worked nonstop until 10:45.

I got to the computer lab at 10:50, printed it out and realized that it was landscape instead of portrait. great. (which meant I also submitted it to my teacher in landscape.. hmm hope I dont' get counted off for that) So I put it to portrait really quick and hit print at 10:57am, and of course my table of contents was completely off, but I didn't have time to fix it so I just left it (Is he seriously going to check to see if they are right?) anywho.. I ran to class and was probably like a minute late.. but it was all good.. I got it done. I have NEVER in my life been rushing like that on an assignment. It was so difficult and I really underestimated the time that it would take to do it all. I'm sure I didn't even do it right at all and I know I spent 12+ hours on it. I'm pretty sure it's more than that.. but that was just over the past few days.. anyway.. then I had class from 11-12:15, and a test at 2:00.. yeah it was a pretty horrible day and now I'm super sleepy but still need to work on homework so I can catch up and never feel rushed ever again. It was a lesson that is for sure. Never ever wait to do something, I'm telling you take it from me. Just do it a little at a time.. it's so much easier.. I hope I remember this when I'm workinng on 900 other projects this semester.. and next :( I am SO sorry about all of the run-on sentences.. I have a major problem with that. I don't understand how I get A's on papers.. bleh..

Anyway.. I told you it was kind of depressing and I'm sure you all don't really care, but anyway now onto the Punkins!

I was determined to carve a pumpkin this weekend. I even printed out some awesome templates from here. And here are instructions on How to Carve a Fancy Pumpkin!

So here they are. Liz's is on the left (Cat in the Moon) and mine is on the right (Frankenstein) They are pretty cool looking if you ask me :) I think it would have been cooler if Liz would have shaved the moon a little deeper but it's still pretty awesome! You should try it!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

college weekend

I stayed at college this weekend. It was pretty fun, except for Friday night when my emotions got the best of me, but that's ok right? Everyone needs a good cry.. haha.. Anyway.. before my little cry I went to Cheeseburger in Paradise with my friend Kelly and my sister, and had a Lady of the Sea.. mmm.. you have to try it I'm telling you. It's a pina colada and strawberry daquiri layered. It's expensive, like $6.50, but it's so worth it. I wish I could find a picture but they don't have one..

Saturday I woke up at umm.. 10:30.. oops.. I totally wasn't planning on sleeping that late, it just kind of happened. The funny thing is, I actually went to bed semi early.. Anyway.. I was very well rested and it was nice. I got up, took a shower, and went to lunch with Kelly, then I came back to my room and started on some homework, then left for my friend Lacy's party about 4:00. I had a lot of fun, she had a hayride and a nice fire, which I have pictures of below, oh and this is my friend Lacy.. I had to crop out our sweatshirts (and when I took the picture.. i accidently cut off part of our head..oops..) to protect our identity ha.. then I went to bed at approximately 1:30am.. and woke up at 8:30, then I cam back here and did laundry, becuase I had NO clean clothes anywhere, went to lunch with my sister and her boyfriend, and then came back and worked on homework. I got so much done in an hour. I still have a lot to go, but I feel better knowing that I at least got some of it done!

I know it doesn't sound like a fun weekend, but it was, just the right amount of fun and I had the opportunity to get caught up on sleep and homework.

And this is totally random, but I want to have a party, and I want to try these recipes because I'm in a fall kind of mood.

Luscious Four-Layer Pumpkin Cake

Cheesy Spinach and Bacon Dip

Mallow-Topped Sweet Potato Bake

it all looks yummy to me.. if you want to see the recipes just type in those titles on http://www.kraftfoods.com/, it's my favorite website and I get LOTS of recipes from it.

capture award

My wonderful cousin Marchelle gave me this award for my fall photography. Thanks! I'm going to pass it on to my wonderful Aunt who also has some awesome photography skills (she took my senior pics and actually got some good ones of me lol.. I now know why I am not a model.. I was just too awkward lol). Anyway, Check out both of their pages... Hopefully I will get a chance to take some more pictures this weekend. We'll see what happens.... it's going to be a busy weekend! ;)

i ♥ fall

it's just... amazing.

NOTE: I did some photoshopping.. (obviously) so don't think that the leaves are this vibrant, although some of the pictures i just "auto-fixed" on picnik (it's a free Facebook thing) Enjoy!

P.S. I so NEED a new camera. Mine is... well.. OLD. I was thinking about getting/asking for one for Christmas, preferrably under $150. I know that doesn't leave me many options but if you have any suggestions let me know!

please tell me...

why I filled up my gas tank when it was $3.35 and now it's $3.13 or less? Yeah.. but really I shouldn't be too mad because what is that? like $2.00 in savings. Oh well..

I did do it for a good reason though, I just thought that it would go up and then I would be mad that I didn't get it when it was cheaper.. I guess I would be mad either way.. what to do..

I'm hoping to get a bunch of cool fall pictures from home this weekend so check back after the weekend to see if I actually did ;)

I am a farm girl, do you believe me?

I know my blog is titled, "Life of a Farm Girl" but I hardly ever write about farming. You probably don't want me to because I tend to go on and on. I have been trying to think of something to blog about, and I couldn't think of anything, and as I was looking through pictures I found some of me that I scanned onto my computer that show that I really am a farm girl, I mean.. I have grown up living on a farm and for that I am thankful. I couldn't tell you how old I was when I first rode in a tractor.. I mean I don't fully remember the first time. I do remember liking to ride in the tractor with dad though :)

And this is one of my all time favorit things... It is the most rewarding thing ever. I've never had anything love me as much as a bottle calf.. yeah yeah.. they just loves the milk, but it's so cool how they follow you around and wait for you to come feed them.

I know for a fact that I wouldn't be the person that I am today. But I really couldn't tell you exactly why I love being a farm girl. I guess it's just because I had no other choice and I had to learn to love it? lol.. just kidding. I mean I really do love it. It's hard to explain, and probably the biggest reason that I.. "want to marry a farmer" ok. I said it. Why would I ever want to do that? I don't know.. I guess it's just that to be a farmer you really have to love what you do, you don't make tons of money, you don't have a constant paycheck, I guess it's just the fact that farmers work so hard for what they want and I just find that so admirable. Is that wierd? Oh well.. if it is I don't really care.

I was thinking about making a list of the reasons I love being a farm girl but I think it would be too hard, mostly because I can't even explain why I love it I just do.. Well.. this picture can kind of explain it. I love taking pictures of cattle, even though they scare me to death when they get bigger, but that's another story. These are some calves that we had last year and I just love this pic because I caught one licking itself lol.. it's just.. idk I like it :)

The picture below could be another reason.. I wouldn't get to see stuff like this everyday (That's why I hate being at college in the city :( ) The picture would be a lot better if I would cut the truck and date out of it, but I don't feel like it lol.. oh and I LOVE FALL!

Well.. this blog didn't turn out like I would have hoped, but I blogged, so I'm ok now :)

on another note, I miss my little brother :( At least I get to see him tomorrow!! Wouldn't you miss this?

wow!

I just got off of the phone with an amazing person! I sent the owner of a local restaurant "Almost Home" an e-mail to see if I could ask her a few questions, she wrote me back and gave me her cell phone number. I just called her and she is one of the coolest people I have every talked to, I think we could be BFFs! Not even kidding. She is so much like me and I'm so excited that I had a chance to talk with her. She gave me some really good information to use for my business plan and she also said that she would be willing to show me around her restaurant and even let me "get my hands dirty" if I wanted. She seems so helpful and willing to talk. Even though I am wanting to create a catering business myself (for a school project and potentially in real life a LONG time from now) she thought my idea for a reception hall was good and also said that putting it in an old barn or something (Marchelle :D ) would be a good idea. She said that something like that, out in the country would be very successful and thinks that it is a good idea and something that people will use. That really just got my hopes up and really excites me!

It was just really nice finding someone who would share their information with me and who I had a lot in common with, I only talked to her for half and hour so and I think that we could have talked for a long time, but I'm sure she is a busy lady. I'm just so excited that someone thinks my idea is good and that someone would take the time to help me out. Yay :) Exactly why you should go to http://www.almosthomerestaurant.com/ and check out her restaurant. It is really amazing, I've been there a few times
