just my luck.

It never fails, I try to stay clean while I'm working outside, but it never happens.

I got home Friday afternoon and went to change my clothes so I could go outside and help split wood with Dad and my sister. I ran into my room to grab some old jeans, only to find that that I had one pair, the most comfy pair in the world with pretty big holes in them, but I wasn't going to wear them because it was freezing out! So I went to the laundry room only to find my "working jeans" in the washer. Of course, there was no time for drying them because Dad was in a hurry.

So we went outside and I said, "These are my good jeans, I need to be extra careful" (Never say that.) So Dad says, ok.. you can run the tractor, so I spent the whole time running the lever, an easy, but cold job. Anyway.. when we were almost done, hydraulic oil started spraying all over the place, all over my jeans and nowhere else. It couldn't have gotten all over my old sweatshirt, no.. It had to get ALL OVER my favorite jeans :(. So I freaked out and dad's like. Way to worry about jeans when I just spilled $50 worth of hydraulic oil, then I said, well my jeans were $30 or $40. That made him think differently about that statement.

Anywho. I was like how do I get this out??! So dad said go scrub dishwashing soap on them, so I did that and let them sit in soap and water for a few hours, then I washed them in hot water in the washer twice. Most of the oil came out, and I think they are wearable, but they still smell like oil :(

On another note, since that wasn't exciting and neither is this, I have decided to quit my job and not work next semester. I am going to work the rest of the semester, but I feel like I am making the right decision. I was going to tell my supervisor after work today, I can't seem to decide if it would be better to tell her when I get there or when I leave, but she wasn't at her desk when I left.. and all of the supervisors seemed to be talking about how "good" I was today.. at my job and it makes me feel guilty, but I still think I'm making the right decision. Am I? LOL

I am a farm girl, do you believe me?

I know my blog is titled, "Life of a Farm Girl" but I hardly ever write about farming. You probably don't want me to because I tend to go on and on. I have been trying to think of something to blog about, and I couldn't think of anything, and as I was looking through pictures I found some of me that I scanned onto my computer that show that I really am a farm girl, I mean.. I have grown up living on a farm and for that I am thankful. I couldn't tell you how old I was when I first rode in a tractor.. I mean I don't fully remember the first time. I do remember liking to ride in the tractor with dad though :)

And this is one of my all time favorit things... It is the most rewarding thing ever. I've never had anything love me as much as a bottle calf.. yeah yeah.. they just loves the milk, but it's so cool how they follow you around and wait for you to come feed them.

I know for a fact that I wouldn't be the person that I am today. But I really couldn't tell you exactly why I love being a farm girl. I guess it's just because I had no other choice and I had to learn to love it? lol.. just kidding. I mean I really do love it. It's hard to explain, and probably the biggest reason that I.. "want to marry a farmer" ok. I said it. Why would I ever want to do that? I don't know.. I guess it's just that to be a farmer you really have to love what you do, you don't make tons of money, you don't have a constant paycheck, I guess it's just the fact that farmers work so hard for what they want and I just find that so admirable. Is that wierd? Oh well.. if it is I don't really care.

I was thinking about making a list of the reasons I love being a farm girl but I think it would be too hard, mostly because I can't even explain why I love it I just do.. Well.. this picture can kind of explain it. I love taking pictures of cattle, even though they scare me to death when they get bigger, but that's another story. These are some calves that we had last year and I just love this pic because I caught one licking itself lol.. it's just.. idk I like it :)

The picture below could be another reason.. I wouldn't get to see stuff like this everyday (That's why I hate being at college in the city :( ) The picture would be a lot better if I would cut the truck and date out of it, but I don't feel like it lol.. oh and I LOVE FALL!

Well.. this blog didn't turn out like I would have hoped, but I blogged, so I'm ok now :)

on another note, I miss my little brother :( At least I get to see him tomorrow!! Wouldn't you miss this?
